flydubai has become the first UAE carrier to operate direct flights to Switzerland’s art capital and cruise hub, Basel.

With the carrier’s four-weekly service to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) from Dubai International (DXB), flydubai has now grown its European network to 29 destinations including Budapest, Catania, Krakow, Milan-Bergamo, Prague, Salzburg and Zagreb.

Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai said, “At flydubai, we are committed to opening up underserved destinations and creating free flows of trade and tourism and we are pleased to add Basel to our network in Europe. BSL serves Switzerland, France and Germany, making it an important hub for travel, trade and tourism in the tri-border region that will benefit our customers from the UAE and beyond.”

Similarly, Efendi said travellers from Europe can also look forward to connecting to other destinations including Kenya, the Maldives, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand via Dubai.

Located on the banks of the river Rhine where Switzerland meets the Alsace region in France and Baden-WΓΌrttemberg in Germany, Basel is the Swiss capital of culture, bursting with interesting museums, galleries and modern architecture. The city is also a gateway to the alps and other major cities.

flydubai will operate flights to Basel on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from DXB’s Terminal 3. Additionally, Emirates will codeshare on this route, offering passengers wider international connections.
