Qatar Airways has celebrated two major milestones with the launch of new flights to Toronto, Canada, and the upgrade of more aircraft with Starlink connectivity than ever before. The airline now offers three weekly non-stop flights from Doha to Toronto, marking its 14th gateway to the Americas. In addition, the carrier has successfully upgraded 15 Boeing 777 aircraft with Starlink connectivity, surpassing its target of 12 by the end of 2024.

Gulf Air announces summer 2025 flights
Gulf Air has announced the addition of seasonal routes for summer 2025, connecting Bahrain with top leisure destinations Nice, France (starting 22 May) and Geneva, Switzerland (from 3 June). The aim is to cater to increased travel demand during the summer with the flights targeting holiday hotspots, giving convenient options for Bahraini residents and international tourists. Bahrain Airport enhances apron safety with new initiative
The Bahrain Airport Company has rolled out a comprehensive apron safety initiative to improve operational efficiency and worker safety in one of the busiest areas of the airport. This program from its Airside Operation Department includes removing FOD (Foreign Object Debris) from cargo operations reducing the risk to ground operators and aircraft. Red Sea Airport gets SITA smart solutions
Global air transport technology provider SITA has been selected to deliver advanced solutions for Saudi Arabiaβs Red Sea International Airport (RSI). The technology suite includes advanced smart solutions in the airportβs new terminal, deploying systems for passenger processing, baggage reconciliation, and airport operations.
Key technologies include SITA Flex, Maestro departure control, and Bag Manager, enabling automated processes and real-time baggage tracking. The aim is to serve one million annual guests by 2030 with a peak capacity of 900 passengers per hour. EPI extends Airbus Atlantic contract
Emirates Pre-Insulated Pipes Industries (EPI) has extended its contract with Airbus Atlantic to supply high-quality aviation components like flight-critical airframes for its A320 and A330 aircraft, solidifying its role as a key partner in Airbusβ global supply chain. flynas launches direct Madinah-Cairo flights
Saudi Arabiaβs leading low-cost carrier, flynas, has inaugurated direct flights between Madinah and Cairoβs Sphinx International Airport. From 11 December, one more route has been added to provide more connectivity for travellers. Passengers were welcomed with giveaways on the first flight which will operate three times per week on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Dassault showcases Falcon 6X at MEBAA, signs IC licensing agreement
Dassault Aviation has showcased its Falcon 6X and 8X business jets at the MEBAA Air Show in Dubai. The Falcon 6X, certified by FAA and EASA, boasts an ultra-wide cabin, seating 16 passengers, and a 5,500-nautical-mile range. The Falcon 8X offers ultra-long-range capabilities, flying 6,450 nautical miles nonstop with advanced flight controls and a quiet cabin. Dassault has expanded its global service network, including a 163,000 sq ft facility in Dubai, to enhance customer support and accommodate its growing fleet, including the upcoming Falcon 10X.
The company also announced a strategic leasing agreement with IC Leasing to bolster its presence in the Middle East, a region with rising demand for corporate and private jets. The company has ordered a second Dassault Falcon 2000LXS, to be delivered Q2 2025.
Jazeera Airways orders six new aircraft
Jazeera Airways plans to purchase six Airbus A320 CEO aircraft, transitioning them from leased to owned, to reduce costs and enhance resilience amid industry challenges. This move aligns with its strategic transformation ahead of its 20th anniversary in 2025. The airline aims to expand its route network, improve in-flight services, and adopt advanced technologies while maintaining high safety standards. With 24 aircraft currently serving over 60 destinations, Jazeera is also set to receive 26 new Airbus A320 and A321 NEO aircraft from 2026, reinforcing its operational efficiency and market reach.
First A330-900 aircraft for Kuwait AirwaysΒ
Kuwait Airways has taken delivery of an Airbus A330-900, equipped with advanced technology and enhanced passenger comfort. The 278-seat aircraft is the first to operate in the Middle East and part of the airlineβs modernisation strategy. It features three modern cabin classes, a quieter and more comfortable flying experience, and in-flight entertainment. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) has inaugurated a 20,000 sqm Comlux facility at Dubai Southβs VIP Terminal, Al Maktoum International Airport. Meanwhile, ExecuJet Middle East has also opened a 15,000 sqm ultra-luxury private jet terminal at Dubai Southβs Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub. Combining Arabian hospitality and contemporary design, the facility offers exclusive suites, lounges, a cigar lounge, a Majlis lounge by Nada Debs, and a climate-controlled 7,000 sqm hangar. DXB braces for winter rush
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing to welcome more than 5.2 million passengers this winter as the city continues to attract tourists from around the globe. The surge in traffic is expected 13-31 December with 20 December projected as the busiest day at 296,000 passengers. This is fuelled by Dubaiβs status as a winter sun destination and its numerous holiday attractions.
Festive activations at Terminal 3, including a winter wonderland, carollers, and gift-wrapping, enhance the travel experience. DXB offers travel tips, emphasising early check-in, Smart Gates, and avoiding terminal congestion. Emirates adds a third non-stop flight to Melbourne
Emirates has launched its third non-stop service from Dubai to Melbourne using its newly retrofitted Boeing 777, featuring upgraded cabins for enhanced passenger comfort. Starting 30 March 2025, this aircraft will be used for flights four times per day on the route. This supports the strong demand being seen from travellers as the airline tries to accommodate record passenger volumes this festive season.
The airline expects to see more than 88,000 customer departures per day during key festive dates and has urged travellers to book early, check-in online, and arrive at airports on time to ensure smooth journeys.
Etihad Airways launches CSK livery with inaugural flight to Chennai
Etihad Airways has celebrated the launch of its new Chennai Super Kings (CSK) livery with its inaugural flight from Abu Dhabi to Chennai. The Airbus A320-neo, the first of its kind for a UAE carrier, landed in Chennai at 2:55pm local time, greeted by a water cannon salute. Egypt climbs 36 spots in global aviation rankings
Egypt has made a significant leap in global aviation rankings, advancing more than 30 positions in the Air Transport Infrastructure Index. Red Sea Global (RSG) has partnered with Dubai-based Jetex to operate the private aviation terminal at Saudi Arabiaβs Red Sea International Airport (RSI). Jetex, a global leader in private aviation, will manage a dedicated terminal as part of RSIβs innovative design featuring five independent βmini terminals.β
