Preliminary traffic statistics released for Etihad
Etihad Airways reported a significant increase in passenger traffic for May 2024, carrying 1.5 million passengers, up from 1.1 million in May 2023. The YTD passenger count reached 7.2 million, marking a 38% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The airline’s operating fleet grew by 15 aircraft, now totalling 90.
DXB Eid visitor numbers
The two weeks between June 12 and June 25 are some of the busiest according to Dubai International Airport (DXB) thanks to families travelling for their Eid celebrations. The significant increase in inbound and outbound travellers is expected to reach 3.7 million visitors with June 22 anticipated to see traveller numbers beyond 287,000.
flydubai releases Eid Al-Adha summer destinations and travel tips
The Dubai-based airline, flydubai, has released new summer destinations between June and September, alongside tips for travelling during Eid. Travellers are able to visit Corfu, Dubrovnik, Sochi, Olbia, Mykonos, Batumi, and Corfu with the carrier. flydubai also emphasises booking early, prime arrival times, and baggage essentials in its list.
Flyadeal’s first A320neo
Expanding its fleet with its first fully owned Airbus A320neo, Saudi’s Flyadeal airline is adding to its existing 33 aircraft. The A320neo have larger overhead cabins with 186 passenger seats. The goal for Flyadeal is 100 aircraft by 2030, with an interim target of 50 aircraft by the end of 2025.
Air Tanzania’s first UAE flight
Air Tanzania has officially commenced operations in the UAE, launching its first flight from Dar es Salaam to Dubai International Airport. The new route reflects an expanding presence for Air Tanzania, which will offer four weekly flights to business and leisure travellers.
