The company has proudly claimed the title of the most downloaded mobile app in online travel from January to May 2025, according to the latest SensorTower data. This not only cements Wego’s position, having already been the undisputed #1 most downloaded flight search and booking app across MENA in both 2023 and 2024, the company also stands as the overall leader in travel app downloads for a remarkable third consecutive year.

This consistent growth is a testament to Wego’s deep understanding of the regional market. From December 2024 right through to May 2025, Wego remained the most downloaded travel search app in MENA every single month. Monthly Active Users (MAUs) in the MENA region swelled to a robust 2.6 million in May 2025, representing a healthy 4% year-on-year increase. More specifically, within the GCC, Wego has held the top spot for travel search app downloads for nine consecutive months, with May downloads reaching 196,000 and MAUs climbing to 1.93 million.

This strong performance is underpinned by Wego’s commitment to hyper-localised content, real-time price comparisons, and an expansive inventory sourced from global and regional partners. Wego’s leadership in both flight and the broader travel verticals highlights its evolution into a comprehensive travel solutions provider. As the summer holiday peak approaches, Wego anticipates continued momentum, fuelled by new deals, personalised features, and offerings tailored to specific markets.

Deepening roots across the Middle East

Wego has been proactively forging key strategic partnerships, particularly with prominent Middle Eastern entities, to further enhance its offerings and market penetration. This year alone (2025), these collaborations are proving instrumental:

  • Accor (April 2025): A partnership was established with Accor, to deepen the hospitality’s group’s digital footprint and strengthen its connection with travellers in the region. Through Wego, Accor gains real-time connectivity, integrating its vast global hotel inventory, dynamic rate plans, and regionally relevant offers. This allows for seamless joint marketing efforts and content delivery tailored specifically for Middle Eastern audiences, including support for local payment methods like Mada in Saudi Arabia and Knet in Kuwait.
  • WegoBeds (launched in 2024, significant in 2025): A crucial in-house development for the B2B segment, Wego launched WegoBeds as a specialised B2B accommodation platform. WegoBeds aims to bridge the gap between Middle Eastern hotels and the OTA’s extensive global network of travel agencies and wholesalers. It offers unmatched rates and innovative booking solutions, leveraging Wego’s profound expertise in the MENA region. WegoBeds serves as a primary hotel supply source for Wego’s own online travel agency and corporate travel businesses, and a team of experienced hotel contractors has been recruited across the Middle East to onboard new hotels and provide strategic distribution advice. This initiative is particularly vital given the projected growth of the GCC hospitality industry, set to reach US $37.62 billion by 2028.
  • Various NTOs (ongoing): While not exclusively Middle Eastern, Wego consistently collaborates with national tourism boards globally, including those within the MENA region (such as previous partnerships with the Saudi’s Aseer region, Egyptian Tourism Authority, Jordan Tourism Board and Bahrain Tourism). These partnerships are key to creating hyper-localised campaigns and showcasing diverse attractions, inspiring travellers to explore within and beyond the region.

Empowering agents

For the discerning travel agent, Wego offers a sophisticated solution beyond its consumer app: WegoPro. This dedicated platform is engineered to streamline business travel management and empower agencies to excel in the competitive travel landscape. WegoPro is not merely a booking tool; it is a comprehensive system designed to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and provide invaluable insights for travel businesses.

Here’s how WegoPro empowers agents to truly propel their sales and bookings:

  • Extensive, centralised inventory: WegoPro provides agents with access to a massive inventory of 800+ airlines and 600,000+ hotels. This extensive selection is consolidated within one platform, where agents can easily compare and book the most competitive prices, in real time.
  • Customisable travel policies and approval workflows: For corporate travel, WegoPro is invaluable. Agents can set up meticulously tailored travel policies and approval workflows directly within the platform. This ensures compliance with corporate guidelines, streamlines the approval process for trips that fall outside policy, and reduces manual intervention.
  • Real-time data and price intelligence: Leveraging Wego’s powerful data analytics, WegoPro offers agents real-time insights into pricing trends and availability. This allows agents to identify optimal booking windows, secure better deals , and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Consolidated invoicing and reporting: WegoPro offers consolidated invoicing, centralising all bookings into a single vendor invoice, effectively streamlining monthly reconciliation and simplifying financial management. Comprehensive travel spend reporting allows agents to track expenditures by various parameters, aiding in deeper analysis and strategic decision-making.
  • Seamless user experience (UX): WegoPro boasts a user-friendly, consumer-grade interface that ensures a seamless booking experience for agents. This intuitive design minimises training time and maximises productivity, allowing agents to focus on client service.
  • Dedicated support and scalability: WegoPro provides dedicated customer support, ensuring agents have immediate assistance when needed. Furthermore, the platform is built for scalability, capable of adapting and growing with the agency’s evolving needs, whether handling a small portfolio of clients or a large corporate account.
  • Localised payment solutions: Integrating with Wego’s localised payment ecosystem, WegoPro supports popular regional payment methods such as Mada in Saudi Arabia and Knet in Kuwait, further simplifying transactions for Middle Eastern clients.

As the travel industry continues its robust recovery, particularly in the Middle East, WegoPro stands as a critical enabler for travel agencies. Read more here.
