As travel and tourism in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) continue to evolve at lightning speed, the newly launched Rihlat Travel News (RTN) has firmly put itself in the pulse of the excitement as the industry’s go-to source for all of the latest and greatest happenings from around the region.

Founded by a group of industry veterans, RTN aims to provide MENA’s rapidly expanding travel and tourism community with a reliable B2B platform for all of the region’s major news, updates, insights, tips and inspiration.

Inspired by Ibn Battuta’s book Rihlat Ibn Battuta, where he documented in detail his travels from Tangier through the Middle East, Asia and Central Africa, the name Rihlat, which translates to Journeys, is RTN’s intention for the industry – to bring the community together on a journey through the region’s incredibly exciting travel landscape.

Why now? General manager of RTN and local UAE resident, Jon Spring, says. β€œHaving observed and being involved first-hand in the tremendous growth and transformation in this space, it became clear we needed a dedicated platform to keep industry professionals informed and connected. Rihlat Travel News is our response to that gap, and we are thrilled to provide this free resource to support the travel community.”

What sets RTN apart? In addition to it being a free platform and having β€˜boots on the ground’ for news and events reportage, RTN promises to deliver news differently.

β€œThe very essence of travel is fun, explorative, educational and inspiring,” says Spring. β€œThat’s the sense of excitement and joy we are bringing into the way we present news and information to our readers. We are here to encourage conversation, connection and general community engagement for mutual growth.”

Covering a host of sectors across the industry including accommodation, aviation, business services, cruise, rail and road, destinations, technology and events, readers and users of RTN can expect a mix of breaking news, opinion pieces, exclusive interviews, travel ideas and event photo galleries.

For time-poor professionals on the go, RTN’s social channels and newsletters will deliver the week’s biggest headlines and upcoming events in an easily digestible format.
