Starting in 2026, Albatros Expeditions will pioneer a fully Halal-certified kitchen in Antarctica, a groundbreaking achievement in expedition cruising.

Led by Rashidah Lim, Southeast Asia Business Development Manager and the polar industry’s first female Muslim Expedition Leader, this project marks a significant milestone.

Collaborating with the marketing and business development teams, Rashidah has developed a unique product catering to Muslim travelers. While welcoming guests of all religious backgrounds, the cruise will maintain a Muslim-friendly environment, refraining from serving pork and alcohol.

Additional features include Halal-certified dining, accredited by CrescentRating, and ladies-only hours in the onboard sauna, offering breathtaking views of the Antarctic sea ice.

“We’re proud to be the first to launch a Halal-certified cruise to Antarctica,” says Jens Rasmussen, COO and Board Member of the Albatros Group. “Thanks to Rashidah and the team for making this innovative idea a reality.”

This pioneering venture sets a new standard in expedition cruising, providing a unique and inclusive experience for MuslimΒ travelers.

The Halal cruise itinerary explores the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula over 10 days. From Ushuaia, Argentina, the expedition navigates the fabled Drake Passage towards the South Shetland Islands, aiming to arrive on the third day, weather permitting.

Proceeding southward to the Antarctic Peninsula, the expedition ventures into the iconic Gerlache Strait, where towering ice cliffs and majestic peaks dominate the landscape. Under the guidance of a skilled Captain and Expedition Leader, Zodiac landings enable exploration of penguin rookeries, breathtaking Antarctic scenery, and historical sites. Passengers will also enjoy scenic Zodiac cruises amidst icebergs, whales and seals.

With an average occupancy of 175 guests, the cruise promises an intimate and unparalleled experience featuring jaw-dropping scenery and unforgettable wildlife encounters. Non-Halal food and beverages, such as pork and alcoholic products, will not be served on this cruise and bringing outside food or beverages onboard isΒ notΒ permitted.
