Turkish Airlines announces expansion plans, extends relationship with Travelport

Turkish Airlines has announced its latest expansion plans to add 23 international cities and two domestic destinations to its network. The 25 new routes span across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.

In the Middle East and Africa, Turkish Airlines will fly to Abha in Saudi Arabia, Salalah in Oman, Aswan in Egypt, Brazzaville in Congo, Hargeisa in Somaliland, Lome in Togo West Africa, Port Sudan in Sudan, and Windhoek in Namibia.

European additions include Bergen in Norway, Glasgow in Scotland, IaΘ™i and Timisoara in Romania, Katowice in Poland, Nantes in France, and Newcastle in the UK.

Towards Asia-Pacific, the carrier will see new routes to Phnom Penh in Cambodia and Sydney in Australia. FInally, in the Americas, new destinations will include Lima in Peru, Orlando in the US, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, and Santiago in Chile.

Domestically, Turkish Airlines will serve Bayburt and Yozgat. Notably, the airline will also connect Atyrau in Kazakhstan to Istanbul, its second route to the city.

This expansion comes as Turkish Airlines reports a 7.7% increase in passenger traffic in Q2 2024, reaching 22.1 million travelers.

Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines has also extended their partnership with Travelport, where the extended partnership introduces the GDS’ automated allocation management feature, enabling Turkish Airlines to optimize inventory management and create personalized group offers for travel retailers using Travelport+. The agreement also ensures continued access to Travelport’s advanced data intelligence, rich content, and branding solutions.
