Saudi National Day 2025: Honouring history, and Ronaldo’s message

Yesterday (23 September), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia marked its 95th National Day with a vibrant display of pride, heritage, and unity that resonated not only across the nation but throughout the region and beyond. The occasion, held under the theme “United We Stand”, paid homage to the Kingdom’s enduring legacy while reflecting its forward-looking vision.

Celebrations across the Kingdom

National Day has always symbolised the unification of the Kingdom under King Abdulaziz in 1932, and this year blended tradition with new innovation and global reach. Here’s how the Kingdom (and beyond) celebrated.

Ronaldo shares his love for Saudi

Global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo joined in congratulating the Kingdom, and sharing how much Saudi means to his family. In his heartfelt video, Ronaldo praised the region’s tourism and recommends travelling to, and experiencing Saudi, for yourself.

Leaders from across the region also shared their messages. With UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed praising Saudi Arabia’s achievements and reaffirmed the deep friendship between the two nations.

A spiritual celebration in Makkah

The holy city of Makkah extended its warmth to international pilgrims. Hotels hosted folk dance troupes and Ardah sword performances, delighting visitors who described the day as a “truly spiritual and cultural experience.” Guests praised the generosity of the Saudi people, noting how the celebrations deepened their connection to the Kingdom.

Ithra’s cultural showcase

At the King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture (Ithra), more than 40 cultural, artistic, and heritage events brought communities together in an atmosphere of learning, joy, and creativity.

A global spotlight

The Kingdom’s pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka became an international highlight. Immersive displays transported visitors through Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage and future vision, sharing the nation’s story on a global stage.

Fireworks and displays

Across the Kingdom, fireworks and local displays loomed large. In Jazan, breathtaking light shows lit up the night sky, while in Riyadh and beyond, fireworks and flags turned streets into canvases of national pride.

Brands joined the festivities

Plenty of brands shared exclusive offers, including Flyadeal which marked both the 95th National Day and its 8th anniversary with SAR95 promotional fares, exclusive bonus rewards, and a special onboard soundtrack composed by Saudi musician Reaab Ahmed.

It’s not over just yet

This weekend, AlUla’s Azimuth Festival will bring together international and regional artists. From the soulful performance of London Grammar to Saudi favourites Dish Dash, the desert will come alive with music, art, and cultural exchange in honour of Saudi National Day, symbolising the Kingdom’s growing role as a cultural hub.

A living testament to national pride

This year’s Saudi National Day proved once again that the celebration is more than a commemoration of history, it’s a living expression of unity, pride, and ambition. Yesterday, as the green flag flew high, Saudi Arabia’s spirit was felt across the nation and far beyond its borders.
