NEOM Oxagon project hails a new era for sustainable tourism

In a bold leap toward a sustainable future, NEOM’s Oxagon hydrogen project is set to reshape not only the energy landscape of Saudi Arabia but also impact global tourism, lifestyle, and the economic framework for the region. As the world’s largest green hydrogen production facility comes to life, it embodies innovation, environmental stewardship, and a transformative vision for modern living.

Creativity in sustainable engineering

Oxagon, the industrial heart of NEOM, is more than just a location. Its octagonal design symbolises a new era of efficiency and futuristic urban planning. The ambitious project brings together a diverse array of global expertise through joint ventures involving ACWA Power, Air Products, and NEOM. This collaboration is not just about producing hydrogen, it’s about integrating the entire renewable energy value chain.

With groundbreaking innovations such as 5.6 million solar panels, over 250 wind turbines, and 2.2GW of electrolysers, Oxagon’s green hydrogen plant reflects what can be achieved when visionary infrastructure meets next-generation technology.

A big step for green hydrogen

Green hydrogen has emerged as a game-changer in the quest for decarbonising heavy industries and transportation. NEOM’s project, led by NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) has invested USD 8.4 billion, and harnesses 4GW of combined solar and wind power.

With plans to generate up to 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen daily by 2026, this endeavour is poised to eliminate nearly five million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
