Qatar is taking theme parks to new heights with the announcement of a whopping QR20 billion theme park project set to eclipse Disney’s Magic Kingdom in size.
Located 40 minutes north of Doha, the entertainment district known as Simaisma is about to breathe new live to Qatar’s eastern shore. Spanning 8 million sqm, including 650,000 sqm of amusement park space, an 18-hole golf course, 300 luxurious villas, shopping options, a marina, yacht club, retail outlets, upscale retaurants and more, holidays and staycations here are about to change…for the better!
Qatar has made various sustainability pledges, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 24% by 2030 to dedicating 20% of its energy to solar power; and the Simaisma project is in line with this promise by using sustainable construction methods and locally recycled materials during construction and operation. Smart systems will also leverage cutting-edge technologies to streamline operations and reduce waste.
The Simaisma project is expected to draw visitors from around the world, offering a variety of attractions and experiences that cater to different interests and age groups. The project is also creating investment opportunities for the private sector, with 16 plots available for investment and development. The scale and scope of the project are likely to position Simaisma as a cultural landmark, bringing Qatar closer to its goal of a 12% contribution to GDP from tourism.
