Egypt has plans to launch an electronic medical tourism platform to showcase the country’s medical capabilities, establishing the country as a premier destination on the global medical tourism map, while attracting inbound tourism.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with representatives from the company developing Egypt’s electronic medical tourism platform, with the aim of expediting work leading to the launch.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s official spokesperson, presented a detailed overview of the platform’s services, including artificial intelligence-driven recommendations for users; advanced features positioning Egypt at the forefront of medical tourism; and multi-lingual communication services for enhanced user experience.

At the meeting, the minister also directed the contracting of Egyptian doctors abroad to provide health services to visiting patients, emphasizing the importance of verifying doctors’ certificates.

The platform will offer:

  • Booking services for healthcare providers and specialists
  • Detailed information on hospitals and treatment services
  • Educational resources on tourist attractions
  • Telemedicine services, including virtual consultations and follow-up care
  • Multilingual customer support

This comprehensive platform is aimed to revolutionise Egypt’s medical tourism industry, and provide a seamless experience for visitors, while solidifying the country’s position as a leader in global healthcare.
