The much-anticipated Riyadh Air uniforms were finally revealed at the Paris Haute Couture Week yesterday (27 June).
Created in partnership with renowned Saudi designer Ashi, the uniforms draw inspiration from the golden age of aviation. Think comedy-drama Catch Me if You Can starring Leonardo DiCaprio. With the aim to project style and sophistication, CEO of Riyadh Air, Tony Douglas, had long been saying, “Ours are not cabin crew uniforms like everybody else but cabin crew fashion.β
Here’s a quick look at the debut:
With both style and functionality in mind, Ashi and Riyadh Air revealed a distinctive modern collection with solid based colours defined by curved lines, sculptured silhouettes and a signature wing detail reflecting the aircraft’s livery design.
Featuring Electric Amethyst for women and Dark Amethyst for men, the colours are a nod to the Kingdom’s lavender fields. These bold colours are also unique to Riyadh Air and rooted in the airline’s branding. Bespoke brooches, tulip cuffs, amethyst earrings, pillbox hats and custom leather shoes contribute to the overall signature look on the several variations of the collection.
Ashi’s brief was to create a line that is not only glamourous, classic and empowering, but also polished, futuristic and full of panache. No doubt he has made quite the statement in fulfilling the brief.
