Real estate developer and a PIF company ROSHN has announced two new stadiums for Saudi Arabia – one in Riyadh and the other in Khobar.
ROSHN stadium in southwest Riyadh will be a landmark mixed-use project spanning over 450,000sqm to include shops, restaurants and hospitality venues. The 45,000-seat stadium’s modern crystalline design is inspired by the urban fabric and architectural features of Saudi’s central region, seamlessly connecting the main sporting facility with other amenities and green spaces. While its sustainable design incorporates the latest technologies for water and energy management, including solar panels integrated into the stadium’s infrastructure, the roof is desgined to enhance air movement, ensuring adequate ventilation and controlled access to sunlight.
Over in Khobar, in the Kingdom’s eastern region, ROSHN has collaborated with Aramco to build a 47,000 capacity Aramco Stadium. Due to complete in 2026, this is where the 2027 AFC Asian Cup will be held. The design of Aramco Stadium is influenced by the Arabian Gulf and the shape of whirlpools, which regularly occur off the coast. A multifunctional stadium catering to both entertainment and sports activities, Aramco stadium will boast state-of-the-art amenities, conforming to the highest standards of inclusiveness, safety, and sustainability.
In ROSHN’s announcements, the company said promoting sports is central to The Quality-of-Life Program and Saudi Vision 2030, with these initiatives set to improve the countryβs performance in international competitions, and grow the sports economy.
Two other stadiums recently announced include the 92,000-capcity King Salman Stadium and the 42,000-capacity New Murabba Stadium, both located in Riyadh city.
