Oman aims to adds 5,800 hotel rooms by 2030 amid 2.3% guest growth

Oman’s hospitality sector is expecting 35 new hotels and resorts by 2030, an increase of 25% (5,800 rooms).  The expansion is largely focused on the luxury segment, which currently make up over half of the country’s existing 24,000-room supply.

In just the first quarter of 2025, more than 610,000 guests stayed in Oman’s 3 to 5-star hotels, a 2.3% YoY increase. The average occupancy rate hit 59.5%, while hotel revenues reached RO79.43 million, up 10.6% YoY. 

Minor Hotels to take over management of DUKES The Palm from August 2025

Seven Tides has appointed Minor Hotels as the new operator of its five-star DUKES The Palm hotel, located on Palm Jumeirah’s west trunk, effective 1 August, 2025. Taking over from the Barcelo Hotel Group who have managed the property for the past six years, the agreement strengthens Minor’s footprint in the area, where it already manages the adjacent NH Collection Dubai The Palm, creating operational synergy across the two properties.

DUKES The Palm features 273 hotel rooms and 287 serviced apartments, along with six dining venues, a private beach, indoor and outdoor pools, a lazy river, gym, and wellness facilities.

Cairo’s new 560-room property developed by Travco Group, Giza Palace, is now part of The Leading Hotels of the World. 15 minutes from the Grand Egyptian Museum and Giza Plateau, the hotel blends Egyptian heritage with contemporary design across its 33,000sqm space.

The hotel offers Michelin-starred Mediterranean cuisine by Chef Sergi Arola, the globally renowned Beefbar, a 1,900sqm spa with Hammam rituals, and views of the Pyramids. As well as expansive event spaces, a rooftop padel court, kids’ club, and curated experiences like private pyramid tours and Nile cruises.

  9. Qatar Tourism launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) for developing the West Bay Waterfront and Al Safliya Island projects to enhance the country’s tourism infrastructure.
  10. The JW Marriott Hotel Muscat has appointed Samir Messaoudi as General Manager bringing two decades of experience to the role.
