The Saudi Tourism Authority and Taiba Investments have signed an MoU to boost Chinese tourists to the Kingdom by curating exceptional experiences tailored to discerning Chinese travellers. These include a specialized range of accommodations and implementing targeted marketing campaigns that will showcase the Kingdom’s rich cultural tapestry, rugged landscapes, and authentic Arabian experiences.

Diriyah Company and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have entered into a partnership to enhance the training and development of Saudi talent. Exclusive to employees of Diriyah Company, RICS will provide the necessary guidance and training for young Saudi talent, mid-management professionals (both Saudi and non-Saudi), and potentially senior staff in the fields of Cost and Commercial Management, Project Management, Asset and Facilities Management, Real Estate Advisory, Procurement, and Tendering, highlighting essential business, budgeting, and cost control skills. 

Morocco aims to double hotel rooms ahead of FIFA 2030

With an anticipated 26 million tourists visiting by 2030, Morocco is setting out plans to double its hotel capacity with an additional 1.5 million new rooms. The country is looking to Dubai for investors and expertise to transform its hospitality sector – to create new tourism hot spots, attractions, smart cities, renewable energy installations and more.

The pyramids celebrate House of the Dragon release

The eagerly awaited season two of House of the Dragon premiered on OSN+ on June 17. To celebrate, the Pyramid of Djoser was illuminated with a light installation depicting a face-off between the characters Queen Rhaenyra and Queen Alicent Hightower. Egypt’s ability to blend ancient history and modern pop culture is one of the reasons it welcomed nearly 15 million tourists in 2023, with the first 50 days of 2024 showing a 6% increase. 

Masirah Tourism Forum is coming in August 2024

Led by the South Sharqiyah Governor’s Office, Masirah Island will be hosting the Masirah Tourism Forum in August 2024. The initiative will highlight the tourism potential of the region to younger travellers, with a focus on promoting the island’s rich marine biodiversity and traditional crafts. Oman’s tourism sector grew by more than 25%, reaching a historic peak of 4 million visitors in 2023. The growth is expected to continue with a 21.6% increase in passenger traffic by the end of January 2024.
