Airlines and tour operators are itching to return to Syria, and flydubai is leading the way with daily services launching next month!

Dubai’s low-cost carrier made the exciting announcement to fly to Syria’s capital of Damascus this week, shortly after the US relaxed restrictions on the once popular tourist destination.
Prior to 2011, Syria was thriving as a travel hotspot, attracting nearly 8.5 million visitors annually. Tourism contributed around 30.8 billion the country’s economy in 2010, and account for nearly 14% of all revenue.
Tourists to Syria were drawn to places such as Damascus and Aleppo which are two of the oldest cities across Western Asia. Aleppo alone has been inhabited since 2400 BC by various empires including the Hittite, Assyrians, Romans and Ottomans, and it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.
As a Middle Eastern destination, Syria has also always been renowned for its incredible hospitality as well as its food which resembles dishes found within neighbouring Levant destinations of Lebanon and Palestine.
“We are very pleased to be the first national carrier to resume flights to Syria after 12 years of halted operations.”
“Damascus holds a special cultural and historical significance within the region, and we are excited to serve the city again with a direct daily service, highlighting our commitment to supporting the UAE’s efforts to foster regional connectivity,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai.
The carrier’s daily Syria service will take off on 1 June 2025, with flight FZ 115 departing Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2 at 6.30am and arriving at Damascus International Airport at 8.45am. The return service FZ 116 will depart Damascus at 10.00am to touch down in Dubai at 2.20pm.
Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce, said the relaunch of flights to Damascus will enable passengers from the UAE and around the network to enjoy convenient travel options to the market.
“After working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that all necessary operational standards have been met ahead of the relaunch, we look forward to welcoming passengers back on board again soon, just in time for the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday and peak summer travel period,” he added.
Flydubai’s return Business Class fares on flights between Dubai and Damascus start from AED 10,000 and Economy Class Lite fares start from AED 2,000.
