Etihad Rail and Oman Rail are set to boost regional connectivity through a landmark railway project. This collaboration is poised to transform the logistics and transportation landscape in the region, providing a seamless link for passengers and freight. It reflects a shared vision of progress and cooperation between the UAE and Oman.

The project will establish a connection between the Etihad Rail mainline and a future passenger station near the University of Sharjah. The station is expected to have around 14,000 passengers a day, many of whom are likely to be students.

Contracts have already been awarded for construction, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development. The rail link is expected to bolster economic ties, promote tourism, and provide a sustainable transportation solution for the region.

Chairman of Etihad Rail, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, discussed the proactive approach in the development and operation of the National Railway Network, saying, “This is further reinforced today through its efforts to develop the passenger rail and connect the network’s mainline with the passenger station in the Emirate of Sharjah. Not only will this enhance connectivity between residential communities in the UAE, but also facilitate passenger movement between stations across the network, particularly as Sharjah is strategically located to connect Dubai with other northern emirates and includes key centres and landmarks.”
