AlUla

Social media users will be inundated with visuals of Saudi Arabia’s historic site of AlUla later this month, when influencers from around the world gather for the ‘Instagram Creators Summit’.

The Kingdom was selected to host the influencer event, which will be the first social media-inspired conference to be held in the Middle East and North Africa.

Putting Saudi Arabia’s best foot forward, content creators will be flown to the ancient oasis city for three nights, where they’ll take part in learning sessions while also staying in top tier resorts and immersing themselves in AlUla’s natural landscapes and rich heritage.

Hosting the summit is a huge feat for Saudi Arabia’s tourism industry, given the immense power of social media as a tool for destination marketing. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) technology and social media as one of the biggest drivers for tourism, particularly for less visited destinations or regions (such as the Middle East). For tips on how to use social media as a tool for tourism business, click here.

Content creators selected to take part in the summit were hand-picked, and cumulatively, represent a global reach of more than 231 million Instagram followers. The number of people with eyes on Saudi Arabia will be almost double the 127 million people that watched America’s Superbowl this year.

Hosted by Meta, the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) and Riyadh Air, content creators will experience the best-of-the-best in Saudi Arabia including AlUla’s offerings across culture, wellness, adventure, and the arts. Influencers will also stay in unique luxury resorts such as Our Habitas AlUla, Banyan Tree AlUla, Dar Tantora The House Hotel and The Chedi Hegra, and witness iconic landmarks like Hegra,

As part of the learning sessions, AlUla will lead conversations on preserving cultural heritage in the face of rapid digital transformation. Discussions will explore how communities, craftsmanship, and storytelling shape a destination’s identity, and the growing responsibility of content creators to promote authenticity in an AI-driven world.

Other sessions will provide influencers with tips on how to optimise their platforms, leverage updates and navigate new opportunities.
