Of all the airlines in the world, the one serving the best inflight meals is apparently… Kuwait Airways.

That is, according to travel insurer MoneySuperMarket which analysed 27,000 flyer reviews to determine that the Kuwaiti carrier is cultivating a fan base with its culinary cuisine.

Kuwait Airways outperformed its Middle Eastern rivals with an average food rating of 8.58 out of 10 across all classes. Travellers were particularly impressed by the airline’s β€˜Royal Class’, a multi course economy offering featuring lobster, prawn and beef dishes.

Oman Air came in close second with a rating of 8.44 out of 10, followed by Lebanon’s Middle East Airlines MEA with a rating of 8.39 out of 10.

Overall, Middle Eastern carriers dominated the top 20, with seven airlines making the list, including Turkish Airlines (#8), Qatar Airways (#14), Emirates (#15) and Etihad (#18).

Algeria’s Aur Algerie was the first non-Middle Eastern airline to make the list at #4 with an average rating of 8.16 out of 10 followed by Airbaltic with 8.03 out of 10.

When it comes to First Class meals, Etihad received the highest ranking amongst Middle Eastern carriers with an impressive 8.37 out of 10. The ranking placed the UAE carrier at #5 on the list, behind Swiss International Air Lines, Qantas, Lufthansa and China Airlines.

Whilst the sample sizes for some airlines were perhaps not quite as robust as others, it’s certainly food for thought. And compliments to the Chefs in any case.
