If you enjoyed James Cameron’s Avatar, then you’ll definitely want to schedule a visit – or few – to Jeddah’s Historic District, pronto! From 10 June, visitors can immerse in the colourful and otherworldly Avatar-like digital art installations, thanks to teamLab Borderless.

Founded by Toshiyuki Inoko, this first-of-its-kind exhibition in Saudi is described as “a museum without a map, where visitors wander and explore the vast world with intention, create a new world with others, and discover”. Featuring more than 80 interactive artworks spanning a panoramic 10,000sqm, the exhibition invites visitors to transcend boundaries and intermingle with the art.

Inoko emphasised the significance of the exhibition’s location in Jeddah’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, stating, “Our artworks are based on the continuity of knowledge over the long history of humanity. For this reason, it is very significant to be able to establish a large-scale teamLab Borderless in Jeddah Historic District. Through Historic Jeddah and teamLab Borderless, we want to make this the most amazing place in the world, creating an experience where people travel between the seamlessly interconnected past and present, and feel a strong sense of meaning.”

Single tickets for the exhibition start at SAR 50, and family / group passes start at SAR 450. VIP experiences are also offered, starting from SAR 8000. Tickets include notable installations including ‘Flutter of Butterflies Beyond Borders’, ‘Infinite Crystal World’, and ‘Universe of Water Particles’; with each piece designed to interact with visitors and with each other, offering a dynamic and evolving environment.
