Oman increases green spaces with two new parks

Muscat, Oman

In Oman, the Muscat Municipality has been making strides towards increasing green spaces in the area. The latest progress, which has reached the 60% completion milestone, sees the addition of two new parks – Hay Jabreen (8,000 sqm) and Al-Khoudh 7 (3,000 sqm), located in Mawaleh.

As part of the municipality’s broader plan to provide more recreational options and expand green spaces for residents, the Hay Jebreen Park is situated behind the Islam Mosque, surrounded by commercial and residential buildings to be able to facilitate many residents and business people. Similarly, the development of the Al-Khoudh 7 Park is progressing rapidly to meet the needs of its local community.

These parks are designed with inclusivity in mind, offering facilities for people with disabilities and featuring amenities such as playgrounds, exercise equipment, seating areas, improved lighting, a cafΓ©, restrooms, a prayer hall, and public parking.

The construction of these parks aligns with Muscat’s urban development plans, utilising available space to provide sustainable services, promote physical activity, and create peaceful environments away from the noise and pollution of urban life. The designs of the parks are focused on becoming a hub of community interaction, fostering social connections and enhancing the overall quality of life in Oman.
