The oneworld alliance has revolutionised the booking process for its popular ‘Round the World’ tickets by partnering with Elemental Cognition and leveraging its advanced AI capabilities, powered by Google Cloud. This innovative AI travel agent streamlines the process of booking intricate flight itineraries, addressing complex product rules and fluctuating flight availability.

The new booking tool, powered by Google Cloud, provides reliability, accuracy, and transparency, simplifying the booking journey and enhancing the customer experience. In just six months, oneworld developed and deployed this multi-modal AI ticketing agent, which operates globally in real-time.

The ‘Round the World’ fares include all oneworld airlines, hundreds of destinations, and millions of flight combinations. Traditional airline booking engines struggle with these complex booking journeys, but the smart oneworld AI travel agent reliably overcomes this complexity.

Roger Blackburn, oneworld VP, Europe, praised the partnership, citing a fivefold increase in conversions since the introduction of the AI travel agent. Matt Demmler, Chief Commercial Officer of Elemental Cognition, highlighted the company’s ability to solve complex problems with AI when precision is paramount.

oneworld continues to embrace digital technology to make customer journeys seamless. The booking platform employs a neuro-symbolic AI architecture to solve complex problems with mathematical precision, delivering a game-changing experience.

The partnership with Elemental Cognition and Google Cloud has been crucial in addressing travel industry needs and providing additional travel-related services. Carrie Tharp, Vice President, Global Solutions & Industries, Google Cloud, emphasized the power of AI and cloud technology in enhancing customer experiences in the travel industry.

oneworld airlines include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian and Sri Lankan Airlines; with Oman Air and Fiji Airways set to join in 2025.Β 

With oneworld celebrating its 25th anniversary, the alliance remains focused on enhancing all aspects of the guest travel experience, including deeper, more personalized digital capabilities.
