Jordan’s tourism revenue has surged 22.8% annually to $680.5 million in January, driven by increased spending from Jordanian expatriates, non-Jordanian Arabs, and non-Arab visitors. This growth aligns with the country’s tourism strategy, which aims to attract international visitors to its cultural heritage and natural landscapes. To further boost interest, the tourism board has partnered with Wego.com to garner more interest and bookings.

UAE opens new border crossing to Oman

The UAE has launched a new border crossing, Wam, in Dibba Al Fujairah, connecting the Emirates to Oman, with operations commencing on 26 February. This new facility, spanning 1 million square meters and comprising 19 buildings, aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother travel between the two nations. The UAE’s Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security, Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, emphasized that the new border post will promote ease of travel and strengthen trade relations.

UAE introduces new 90-day visa
The UAE has launched a new 90-day multiple-entry visa that doesn’t require a local sponsor, making travel easier for tourists, business professionals, and family visitors. The visa is extendable up to 180 days per year and can be applied for online, with processing times ranging from 5-7 business days. Penalties for overstaying applies at AED50 per day.
Dubai Hosts BASE jumping event and opens largest private art gallery
Dubai recently hosted EXIT139, an extreme sports spectacle, where 31 elite BASE jumpers from 15 countries jumped from the 139th floor of Burj Khalifa. The event, held in partnership with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Skydive Dubai, and Emaar, featured 437 jumps over two days.
Meanwhile, Dubai’s largest private art gallery, MAVON Gallery, has officially opened its doors. Saudi tourists flock to Egypt, boosting luxury hospitality

Egypt has seen a significant surge in Saudi tourists, with a 25% year-on-year increase in 2024, according to an Almosafer travel trends report. Saudi visitors spent an estimated SR5.6 billion ($1.5 billion) in Egypt, with an average daily spend of $300. This has led to a growing demand for luxury accommodations, particularly five-star resorts. In December 2024, Egypt enjoyed an average of 69% hotel occupancy rates, a YoY 25% increase. However, in major resort areas, occupancy exceeded 75%.
