Wyndham’s MEA development team expands

One of the world’s largest hotel franchising company, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, is strengthening its presence in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) with the expansion of its development team. Owning more than 9,200 hotels over 95 countries, Wyndham has recognised the MEA region as an opportunity for growth and the new expanded team will focus on key markets in the GCC, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, South Africa, Morroco, and Tanzania.

Two new appointments underscore commitment 

Wyndham have appointed two new development managers, Charl Nel and Jean-Claude Abi Khalil to bring their extensive experience in the hospitality sector to the team.

Nel, with over 15 years of experience, has previously worked with Hilton, Radisson, and TUI Group in MENA and Europe. His focus will be on leveraging his existing regional knowledge to drive growth across the GCC, and South, East and Central Africa.

Meanwhile, Abi Khalil, has a 24-year background in hotel operations and asset management, and a proven track record of enhancing market position, guest experience, and strategic rebranding. He will also concentrate on the GCC region, as well as Western and Northern Africa. 

Existing properties in the region

Wyndham’s existing properties in the MEA region include a diverse range of hotels and resorts. In the UAE, notable properties are the Wyndham Dubai Marina and the TRYP by Wyndham Dubai.

Saudi Arabia features the Ramada by Wyndham Riyadh and the Wyndham Garden Dammam. In Egypt, the Ramada by Wyndham Cairo is a key property, while Morocco hosts the Wyndham Casablanca. Other significant properties include the Wyndham Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and the Ramada by Wyndham Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. This extensive portfolio underscores Wyndham’s strong footprint and continued commitment to the MEA region.
