$514 million Wynn Resort granted first UAE casino licence

Opening a luxury resort in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) in 2027, US casino firm Wynn Resorts has been awarded the UAE’s first commercial gaming operator’s license. Wynn Al Marjan Island is set to be a major attraction and includes luxury accommodations, entertainment, dining, and gaming facilities. The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority was established last year, signalling a big stride in legalising gambling in the UAE. This first license breaks new ground in the region’s hospitality sector. 

New hotels in Dubai and India for Kamah and Wyndham partnership

In an exciting collaboration, Kamah Investments and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts are set to develop a new property in Dubai and three more in India. The latest partnership aims to build on its existing presence in luxury wellness to cater to a diverse range of tourists. The partnership was signed at the Future Hospitality Summit 2024 and will target several key locations known for natural landscapes and serene experiences.

FORM Hotel Dubai, part of Design Hotels and Marriott Bonvoy, was named “Best Luxury Boutique Hotel” at the International Travel Awards. The recognition highlights its excellence in hospitality, blending luxury with authenticity. The hotel features spacious rooms, artwork, a rooftop pool, a fitness centre, and dining options. As the only Middle Eastern hotel certified by Design Hotels, FORM Hotel has been recognised for delivering a high-quality guest experience.

Dubai’s Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road has integrated a new Guest Room Management System (GRMS), enhancing its luxury offerings with advanced technology. This system allows guests to control room settings, including lighting, temperature, and entertainment via smart devices. The aim is to offer a more seamless and personalised stay, demonstrating a blend between comfort and cutting-edge technology. 

Al Habtoor Grand Resort Autograph Collection supports breast cancer awareness in October

Beachfront resort, Al Habtoor Grand Resort Autograph Collection is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October by offering pink-themed dining experiences. The resort will donate 10% of the proceeds to the Al Jalila Foundation, a UAE-based medical research organisation. Special offerings include a pink-themed afternoon tea, coffee with pink macaroons, a pink burger, and a Pinktober Brunch, all aimed at raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. These pink-inspired dishes are available throughout October at various dining venues within the resort, including the Grand Kitchen, Club Lounge, and Pool Area. 

Happy 30th to the Banyan Tree

Banyan Tree is celebrating its 30th anniversary with global events from 3 October to 31 December 2024. Known for its iconic architecture and signature wellness offerings, Banyan Tree has been a pioneer in sustainable luxury worldwide. Highlights of the celebration include wellness activities, cultural experiences, and the expansion of its renowned restaurant, Saffron. Banyan Tree Dubai is hosting a Sunset Soirée and an exclusive Urban Wellbeing Retreat at its opening in October.

The group is also pledging $1 per booking to the “Rewilding Banyan” initiative, supporting habitat restoration and biodiversity. The celebrations honour Banyan Tree’s founding principles of sustainability and mindful travel.

Hilton Brings Waldorf to Makkah

Hilton is expanding its Waldorf Astoria brand to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with a new 300-accommodation property set to open in 2028. Positioned to cater to the high-end market, the Waldorf Astoria Makkah will offer unparalleled views of the holy city and luxurious accommodations for pilgrims. This marks a significant step in the brand’s growth across the Middle East and adds to Hilton’s impressive regional portfolio.

Mandarin Oriental partners with Royal Opera House Muscat to launch 2024/25 season

Mandarin Oriental has announced a cultural partnership with the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman, offering guests exclusive access to events and performances for the 2024 – 2025 opera season. Starting 3 October – May 2025, guests can expect special packages that combine stays with opera performances, enriching their travel experiences. Options include theatre-inspired menus in the Oriental’s signature Italian restaurant, as well as a private ‘Mandarin Oriental Balcony in the Royal Circle. 

Novotel Cairo Airport receives Green Globe Certification

Novotel Cairo Airport has earned its first Green Globe certification, recognising its commitment to sustainability. The 4-star hotel near Cairo International Airport prioritises eco-friendly practices, from reducing plastic use to monitoring energy and water consumption. A zero-plastic policy is in place, along with recycling initiatives for electronics and waste.

The hotel sources food responsibly, minimises waste, and supports fair trade practices. Additionally, Novotel Cairo Airport gives back to the local community by donating meals and linens and organising events like cooking for disabled children, reinforcing its focus on corporate social responsibility.

Rixos comes to RAK

A new all-inclusive resort, the Rixos Al Mairid, Ras Al Khaimah, has opened with 466 accommodations, including family and royal suites. The resort boasts a private 1.5 km white sandy beach, seven pools, and ten diverse dining outlets. Offering an immersive cultural experience, its design blends Andalusian, Arabian, and Turkish influences. Dubbed the ‘ultra all-inclusive’ resort, it features a Rixy Kids Club, Teens Club, and year-round entertainment, while adults benefit from the spa, fitness club, and wellness activities.
