This culinary success is part of a broader strategy by the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM) to position Dubai as a top global destination. The city’s efforts have been rewarded with accolades such as being named the No. 1 global destination at the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for three consecutive years.
The $408 million Dubai Mall expansion, for example, will add 240 new luxury stores and dining outlets, further solidifying Dubaiβs in shopping and culinary diversity. The mall’s existing 1,200 stores and 200 eateries have already made it one of the most visited destinations globally, with 105 million visitors in 2023.
In addition to permanent attractions, events like the Dubai Food Festival play a significant role in drawing tourists. The festival showcases Dubaiβs vibrant food scene through innovative culinary experiences, bringing together food enthusiasts from around the world. These events not only highlight the cityβs diverse cuisine but also promote local talent and international collaborations.
Speaking to Gulf News, Kazim outlined the key to growing Dubaiβs tourism, saying, βDubai is always innovating. Weβve introduced cycling and hiking tracks, a Real Madrid World theme park, new hotels like One&Onlyβs first city resort and Siro Hotel, and numerous gastronomy offerings. Our Michelin Guide has grown, highlighting our culinary excellence, including three Green Star restaurants for sustainability.β
